Golf World Directory’s – Winter Warmer Collection
Sandy Lane Resort – Barbados
Sandy Lane Golf Resort is a World-Renowned location for exceptional golf and luxury living! Located on the stunning island of Barbados in the Caribbean this resort is a must for our Winter Warmer Collection.
Sandy Lane has 3 golf courses at the resort
- The Old Nine
- The Country Club
- The Green Monkey
The Green Monkey
While all three are fantastic courses, The Green Monkey is by far the most well known of the three.
This course is a fantastic design created by Tom Fazio, the course is navigated through an old stone quarry and is kept exclusive to Sandy Lane guests.
This private course provides 7,343 yards worth of challenging terrain with a par of 72. Set in the old quarry the course combines the natural beauty of the surrounding limestone with the luscious green of the fairways. The renowned Green Monkey sits in a bunker on the 16th hole protecting the green of this par 3 hole.
Sandy Lane really has it all!
Boasting awards left, right and centre for 2017 if you are looking for the ultimate in luxury and experience then Sandy Lane is the place to visit. Of course it doesn’t provide all of this at cheap prices but the Green Monkey could be a course you wish to tick off the list.
If staying at Sandy Lane isn’t your cup of tea, don’t forget their other courses!
The Country Club
The host of the 2006 World Golf Championships Barbados World Cup this course is no less of a course than The Green Monkey.
Slightly shorter at 7,060 yards and still a Par 72 course, The Country Club is described as a golfer’s paradise. Barbados is an obvious choice for
our winter warmer collection as is provides the golfers and holiday goers alike with stunning white sand beaches, sunshine, relaxation and the clear blue Caribbean Sea. All of which you can take in on The Country Club course which provides breathtaking views alongside its immaculate fairways.
The Old Nine
Last but by no means least is The Old Nine. As the name suggests this is the original and prestigious 9-hole course at the Sandy Lane Resort.
Set within the estate this short course, constructed in 1961, routes its way through tree lined fairways providing a challenge in accuracy over power. Small greens and tight fairways create a close a warm feel to the course that leaves golfers wishing to return again and again.
For us this destination really has it all!
From the moment you arrive in the airport the locals are friendly and happy to help wherever they can. The island, while not massive, has so much to offer. Of course as a golfer the courses at Sandy Lane are a fantastic option, but there is so much on offer in Barbados for yourself, your friends and even your family!
On the beaches you’ll have the option to lay back and enjoy the sunshine or go out and involve yourselves in activities. From Jet Skiing & Windsurfing to searching for Turtles & Snorkeling.
If you’re a food lover, this island will be a paradise for your cravings. In the parish of St James alone, the coastline is lined with world-renowned restaurants providing some of the best dishes along with spectacular views of the Caribbean sea. We recommend The Cliff, The Beach House and Cariba, as well as the many options in Sandy Lane which is are must visits!
If you fancy a more chilled evening be sure to look out for the trailors on the side of the roads. You’ll often spot queues of people – this is your spot for a taste of the excellent local bajan cuisine.
